A two-door sports car, and powered by an 8 cylinder engine, the Maserati Granturismo is an exquisite beauty.
The stock exhaust system does not allow efficient scavenging of all the exhaust gases in the cylinders. This anomaly is due to back pressure within the exhaust pipes.
The CAPRISTO Exhaust system has the capability of tackling this anomaly. It reduces pressure within the system, enabling efficient evacuation of exhaust gases leaving sufficient room for fresh oxygen. This increased efficiency allows the engine to produce more horse power by up to 10%.
The CAPRISTO system is back pressure-controlled and freely programmable. This means that there is a control unit for monitoring the back pressure. This control unit provides the possibility to individually program the pack pressure one would like to drive in. This way, one can reach the maximum performance. The portion of back pressure resulting in a loss in performance is filtered out.
Therefore, this sports exhaust combines all advantages in both the lower and higher range of revolutions (rpm), since the back pressure can be exactly dosed to enable the engine to gain the maximum performance.
These benefits are all good. But what will cause people to stand up and take notice is the deep growl produced by this exhaust system. You also get to reap benefits from the high quality of material used to make the aftermarket unit.
The CAPRISTO system for the Maserati Granturismo is made from high grade stainless steel (T309), a material that close to inconel properties.

The programmable control unit features an illuminated display showing all functions in plain text in 3 different languages (German, English ,Italian) and provides 3 basic modes to be operated via a remote control, namely
Cruise mode – the exhaust gas valves open later
Sports mode – the exhaust gas valves open earlier
Open mode – the exhaust gas valves remain open
In both the cruise mode and sport mode, one can individually program when the exhaust gas valves shall open.
One big advantage is that the control unit recognizes the driver’s operation characteristics. If the driver accelerates aggressively, this is identified by our device by the kind of back pressure that is generated, and the exhaust gas valves open immediately. Usual acceleration results in a later opening of the exhaust gas valves.
