AUDI R8 V10 5.2 FSI MULTIVALVE EXHAUST SYSTEM (INCL. REMOTE)
Driving an R8 V10 is like having the best of both worlds. You’ve got instant curb appeal and performance to rival Ferrari and Lamborghini, but driving comfort that can only be compared to a luxury sedan.
The newly designed system comes with four (4) exhaust valves, which allows the normal V10 exhaust is turned into a “multi-sound” system.
The options of cruise and sport mode still remain. But there is the possibility of switching between different sound levels while in the open mode, since the exhaust gases can take different ways depending on the sound level.
In level 1, the exhaust valves between the mufflers are opened and the sound given is similar to our regular V10 valve exhaust system (with 2 valves).
In level 2, the additional two exhaust valves (which go around the muffler) are opened. In this configuration the car becomes again noticeably louder than our regular V10 version.
CAPRISTO offers a valved exhaust system, which compliments Audi’s “best of both worlds” philosophy by producing an aggressive note under acceleration, but a more civil tone during stop and go driving.
It does so by the use of vacuum-actuated flaps that open and close depending on driving conditions and input from the driver. When open, the valves allow gasses to escape through a second outlet from the muffler which facilitates a much larger volume of exhaust to freely pass through the muffler.
This not only provides a much more aggressive sound, but also contributes to a noticeable increase in overall performance. However, even when the valves are closed, CAPRISTO’s Exhaust system has been defined as one of the best system if not the best for the Audi R8 V10. It does a much better job of allowing the real character of the V10 to be heard. It’s louder, but not over the top, in both circumstances and will provide your Audi R8 with approximately a 24hp increase.
With this system, there is an addition of approximately 6dbs (addition of 2 valves) – No power increase – just sound.
The exhaust valves are back pressure-controlled and user programmable. A built in limit prevents reaching dangerous pressure levels. There is a control unit for monitoring the back pressure.
This control unit provides the ability to individually program the back pressure one would like to have the valves open or close. The portion of back pressure resulting in a loss of performance is filtered out. This way, one can reach the maximum performance.
This sports exhaust combines all advantages in both the lower and higher range of revolutions (rpm), since the back pressure can be exactly controlled to enable the engine to gain the maximum performance. The programmable control unit features an illuminated display showing all functions in plain text in 3 different languages (German, English and Italian) and provides 3 basic modes to be operated via a remote control, namely:
Cruise mode – the exhaust gas valves open later
Sports mode – the exhaust gas valves open earlier
Open mode – the exhaust gas valves remain open
In both the cruise mode and sport mode, one can individually program when the exhaust gas valves shall open. One big advantage is that the control unit recognizes the driver’s operation characteristics. If the driver accelerates aggressively, this is identified by our device by the kind of back pressure that is generated, and the exhaust gas valves open immediately. Usual acceleration results in a later opening of the exhaust gas valves.
Made of high-grade T309 stainless steel (close to Inconel properties) throughout the entire system and the entire system is then hand polished to a mirror finish.
